This is a good fishing spot, for humans and bald eaglealike. I've painted this place a number of times. It reminds me of Alaska. Onething I love about living here in Honor, Michigan is the variety of naturalwonders; Lakes, rivers, dunes, beaches, forests, hills and bluffs...and pretty cool people too... we have itall.

This is also a great canoe or kayak putting in spot. You canget to Lake Michigan from here.

The Riverside

The Riverside is just across the Platte River from theSleeping Bear Dunes campground. It's just one of the many places that you canrent canoes, kayaks or tubes, to float down the Platte River. Make sure tosay "hi" to the giant stuffed bear as you enter the shop. Justanother fun thing to do in Honor, Michigan.

Peterson Road Beach

Peterson Road is a dirt road that runs from M22 to LakeMichigan within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. I walk the dog theremost every day...rain, sun, snow, wind...nothing much will stop Major and Ifrom our daily "walkies." It's about a 45 minute trek to thelake...but you get the reward of this beautiful Lake Michigan view, and onlucky days...you might see the bald eagles fishing.

Platte River at Lake Michigan

This is the spot where the Platte River flows into LakeMichigan, in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It's a great place towatch the sunset. I always have to bring visitors here to go rock hunting...therocks are worn smooth from the water and sand, and I defy you to not pick up atleast one to try and skip it on top of the water. If you hop into the canoe atour house on Platte Lake... you will eventually end up here, after a leisurely2 hour paddle. It's one of my favorite spots in Honor, MI.

M22 is a beautiful stretch of Michigan Highway that skirts the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This is the corner of M22 and Deadstream Road, in Honor. I walk by here each day with the dog as we head into the park.

The Cherry Bowl, in Honor Michigan, is a favorite summer destination for residents and visitors alike. They’ve been showing films there for almost 60 years…a real blast from the past experience. If you are ever visiting the Sleeping Bear Dunes, make sure to put The Cherry Bowl on your list of things to experience! The original painting is of the back of the movie screen and the giant chicken that welcomes all movie goers.
